no goals at all.

We are that 3% at Joescher+Adhaus.

Take a look at the attendees who have fallen into this small 3%

"The Zulu Tribe"

Another 1st for Joescher Adhaus on week 49 - our 1st interesting sharing session by an African :D Good job lewis!!

Lewis shared some interesting things about the South African king "Tshaka Zulu" and his tribe. Who get's to find out about cultures like this? Only at Joescher+Adhaus! One of the things worth mentioning is the tribe's loyalty, King Tshaka was all about loyalty and if he found his warriors with a wound on their back, it was an instant death sentence. Why? Because the warrior was probably running away from his opposition. Learn more about the "Zulu's"! Please drop us a few questions, our African buddy will be happy to answer them.

"Flesh & Blood" of Branding

This week's sharing session (week 47) was definitely an energetic one, Laston gave a little insight to his views on "Branding". For those of you who have missed out on our sharing sessions, we have changed the format to one person a week.

So brace yourself and lets get straight into it - a brand is like you and me, for a person to understand "Branding" they must first look at themselves as a human being and an individual. Let's relate different parts of Branding to parts of the human body - a simple analogy to help us understand Branding as a whole. For those of you who know Branding but find it challenging to explain it to those who don't, here is a great place to start.

Our brain can be related to a brand's "core idea", other parts of the body can also be related to Branding, for example, bones represent "Brand Structure", the mouth represents the "Tone & Manner" of the brand, clothing/hairstyle are "Graphic devices", the heart is the emotional feelings that the brands gives off.

We're not done yet, we can break Branding down even deeper, for example, your hands in Branding is the "Advertising & Design", as it delivers, "Behaviour" also falls under the hands of Branding. Your feet, the Strategy and Marketing in Branding because they keep the brand up and support it. Laston has only touch the surface of this, hope you enjoyed his insight into what he calls the "Flesh & Blood" of a brand.

This sharing session has cleared our understand about our relationship with brands and now Branding can be explained to clients without having to use clever jargon that some clients just don't get. Cleverness Vs Clarity - Clarity wins!

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Some of us, particularly creative individuals, hear about the "Creative Process". Who of you think that it involves one process? eg. research, brainstorming, drafts, final. Well, it's time to rethink. It turns out that a creative process involves 3 core processes, David reveals this during his interesting sharing session, so read on and find out what they are.

THE CREATIVE PROCESS

Routine
Stick to the same routine everyday, it is the KEY to creative inspiration. Neuroscience has confirmed that routines create what is called "Circadian Rythms" - patterns of arousal, alertness etc. These rythms can be magnified by objects and surroundings, eg. music, drinks, food etc. which then trigger your "creative state of mind"
Action - Notice your times of alertness and focus it on your work, do it with the same surroundings and objects.

System
We all need a strong system to capture our ideas, this helps us to focus on jobs at hand, like a "to-do" list for example. A system is there to fall back on if your routine fails because it does not depend on circumstance, so nothing slips your mind and everything get done, eventually.
Action - Monitor how you spend your time, explore "productivity systems".

Spontaneity
Creativity involves spontaneity, surprise and that special "Aha!" moment. The more you work on routines and systems, the more "Aha!" moments you will get, the KEY is to let it happen naturally and not force it.
Action - Take a break from your routine (take a walk, have a drink, watch TV etc.), always be open to new things and ridiculously crazy ideas, CAPTURE (write them down, draw them out etc.)

Now let's leave you with a quote from one of the most creative writers that lived,

“There are certain things I do if I sit down to write. I have a glass of water or a cup of tea. There’s a certain time I sit down, from 8:00 to 8:30, somewhere within that half hour every morning. I have my vitamin pill and my music, sit in the same seat, and the papers are all arranged in the same places. The cumulative purpose of doing these things the same way every day seems to be a way of saying to the mind, you’re going to be dreaming soon.” -Stephen King-
